How to understand

(Proverbs 4: 7.8)
The bible talks about seeking. Seeking is in fact possible through love, patience and humility. Without these, one cannot seek, nor find.
To have understanding, we need to seek it. However, to understand we do not need to go and be searching or looking for understanding itself. What we need to seek is wisdom and knowledge, and remain humble under them to learn for life. Staying under knowledge and wisdom is that which brings understanding.
Think about the word understand. It can be syllable into two—under and stand. The question is standing under what? The response is standing under knowledge and wisdom. It is therefore those who stand under knowledge and wisdom humbly that will understand and have understanding. Those who do not stand under these cannot understand. Understanding is not automatic and does not come by seeking understanding itself. It comes by seeking knowledge and wisdom. Consider reading the scripture below, before we continue please.
(Proverbs 2: 2-17)
2 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. 9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. 10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; 13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; 14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; 15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: 16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words; 17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God. 18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead. When understanding becomes our friend, it will make us to have a better life. Think about a machine you have which broke down and you were not able to repair it. When you took it to someone, who knew about the machine, the person did the repairs within few minutes. That is the power of understanding. So, we need to have understanding about life and the area which we serve. When this comes, we will float and fly whilst others are struggling. This was the secret of King Solomon. The Lord Jesus had understanding—this made Him to excel. May the good Lord lead us into understanding by giving us the knowledge that will help us to understand.

  1. Brother Samuel, this was very good. Please keep up the good work. I am soon to get back to my blogging. Had to step away to deal with business challenges and new doors opening in my company. However, everyday I am getting new material to write about. Keep sending in those inspiring words of wisdom and understanding. God Bless You.
