One Friday evening, I went to work and came back the following morning. When I came, I slept a little and went to do other things. That Saturday, I slept at 4 am and woke up at 8 am the following day to go to church. That Sunday too, I slept very late. When I woke up the following day, what I discovered was that it was 13.30 pm, and I was to be at work at 2 pm. Within the left thirsty minutes, I did warmed food, eat and made it to work on time.
In this story, what motivated me to hurry up to get to work on time was fear of arriving at work late. This kind of fear can be known as respect. Respect for the future is one of my great motivators in life. The truth is, not having respect for the future can make one to fail. So, I respect the future and do take it serious. Having this in mind does make me to use my now very well. Another thing is, this respect for the future is what makes me set goals and avoid procrastination whilst wanting to achieve them.
Being committed to what we want is a sign of respect; and whatever we respect will come to us and live with us. Think about it. Shalom.
